In the USA, wood block pallets are in plentiful supply and are the standard transport structures that support equipment and materials while in transit. These pallets are designed to be lifted by pallet trucks, forklifts, front loaders, and cranes, and transported by rail and truck so they are very strong. 

This post gives instructions to make an entertainment center from 2 wood block pallets. There are many different styles of wood block pallets. 

Wood Block Pallet:

Both wood block pallets are made of pine or oak, are 48" long x 40" wide x 6" deep, and are made from the following lumber:

• 14 pieces of wood - 48" long x 3.5" wide x 5/16" deep.
• 6 pieces of wood - 40" long x 3.5" wide x 5/16" deep.
• 8 blocks of wood - 6" long x 6" wide x 6" deep.

Supplies Needed:

• 2 wood block pallets - 48" long x 40" wide x 6" deep.
• 1 wood stud - 6" x 6" x 8' long cut into 8 equal lengths of 12" each.
• 8 heavy duty swivel castors.
• 32 heavy-duty steel corner connection brackets. 
• Sandpaper in successive grits.
• Sanding block.
• 72 Type S 1" flat head screws for corner brackets.  
• 42 Type S 1" flat head screws for castors.
• Screwdriver for both screw types.
• Electric hand sander.
• Wood putty.
• Wood stain.
• Metal paint.

Build a 48" x 40" Mobile Entertainment Center:

• Mount one hardwood framing lumber stud on top of each of the wood blocks that separate the top and bottom of each pallet.
• Secure each framing lumber stud with 2 heavy duty, steel corner connection brackets.
• Place the other pallet on top of the first pallet rack with the upright studs.
• Secure the top pallet to the upright studs with 2 heavy duty, steel corner connection brackets.
• Attach 8 heavy duty castors on the bottom of the entertainment center with 4 screws in each.
• Fill all cracks, holes and defects in both of the wood pallets with wood putty and allow to completely dry.
• Sand all putty applications with successive grits of sandpaper to a smooth finish.
• Stain the pallet wood in 2 coats allowing the stain to completely dry between applications.
• Paint the steel corner connection brackets in 3 coats allowing the paint to dry between coats. 

Install Electronics:

• A flat screen TV monitor can be attached to the wall behind the entertainment center or set directly on top of it. All electronic components and devices can be placed on top of the entertainment center or in the storage space between the wood block pallets. 
• Connect all electronic wire connections and entertainment service connections.
